One contemporain street show inspired on the work of the Catalan painter Joan Miró, which performatively explores his pictorial and magic universe, full of colours, things, forms, beings and figures more or less abstract, turning them into vivid characters that participate, interpret and tell the histories painted by the artist on his paintings.

Physical and without words theatre, interpellating several stage arts disciplines, with live music, that dialogs with the surrounding space where the actors discover, play and subvert the day to day objects, turning them into living characters and forms to play along.

A Maior Flor e Outras Histórias Segundo José

Inspired on José Saramago work and having as base to dramaturgic work his children’s book “A Maior flor do Mundo”, Teatro Art'Imagem presents one play to be seen by adults and children together. One good opportunity to honour and publicize the author and his work, on Teatro Art'Imagem route which lemma has been to present great authors and texts of universal literature, transforming them in theatre.

Melting other texts that goes from “Pequenas histórias” to the tales “Deste Mundo e do Outro”, from the “Cadernos de Lanzaroe” to “Poemas Possíveis” and to the speech on the Nobel Prizes Ceremony, to the unforgettable literary characters appearance from the author universe, as the pair Bilmunda and Baltazar, Seven Suns Seven Moons, from the “Memorial do Convento”, the Doctor Woman and the Tears Dog, from the “O Ensaio Sobre a Cegueira”, till the real creatures, more or less fantasized, as well as the memories from what it was to live, work and play on the Azinhaga do Ribatejo village, to the awakenings of the first love.

O Vosso Pior Pesadelo

Inside a cage is a man kneeling with their hands tied behind his back, head down. In a corner’s cage, there is a bucket for the prisoner physiological needs.

The action takes place in a high security prison and follows the day-to-day violence that is particularly subject a prisoner accused of terrorism, a comedian who does not cry or mourn the brutal assault that is the victim, embodied by the soldier and officer that are stunned by is attitude.

As Veias Abertas da Humanidade

A scenic creation where coexist several theatrical genres and disciplines in a dialogue with other audiovisual languages. One selection of texts based on the multifaceted work, of the Uruguayan writer, thinker and journalist Eduardo Galeano.

The “Open Veins of Latin America” author, one singular voice of actual literature and latin-american thinking, is still virtually unknown in Portugal, where just some (few) works were published, last year’s October went out the first volume of the important trilogy “Memória do Fogo”: “Os Nascimentos” - Livros de Areia edition.

Um Punhado de Terra

Swamp. In the whole stage, twenty centimetres of clay ground. Comes, from the horizon to the proscenium, a black man. The feet sink in the mud. The man limps from the right leg. The man come, slowly. Arrives to the proscenium. And says: Take my body lord of fire! Come and destroy this foreign land!
This black man is a slave brought by force from Africa to a land that never heard - Portugal.
He will tell us, in a badly learn Portuguese, but with powerful images and in a poetic singular language, as a traditional african story teller, how one day arrived to his village the “ugly white men, with metal heads and iron skin, above the skin spoiled milk colour”.
How they kill his wife, kids and friends, how they destroy his village and annihilated his people. How they were taken, under the orders of a so called “the infant”, in a big boat bigger than “wood mountains” to this relegation lands.
Is so his loneliness and his sadness that the black man, stripped out of his slice of land, will evoke and will ask to the gods the death and curse of the foreigners and their descendants, responsible by his misfortune and destruction of his people.
And, is still with foreign land that the black man says goodbye, from his life and his land.

“The black man catches soil from the ground and eats. / Again catches soil. Eats. / The black man eats the land. / Eats, eats…”
